Dear friends, thanks for following my blog. I want to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day, but I know from personal experience that wish can carry a lot of baggage. Instead, I am praying this Mother’s Day blessing over you:
To my friends who are mothers, may God fill your day with peace and joy.
To my friends who have good relationships with their own mothers, may God fill your day with thanksgiving.
To my friends who aren’t mothers and want to be, may God comfort you in your pain and fill the void in your heart.
To my friends who have lost a child, may God comfort you in your sorrow with the hope of the resurrection.
To my friends whose mothers have left this world, may God give you sweet memories of the past and anticipation of the life to come.
To my friends who are estranged from their children, may God keep your heart open to the possibility of forgiveness and reconciliation.
To my friends who have difficult or nonexistent relationships with their mothers, may you know the truth of Isaiah 49:15-16, that the LORD will never forget us or forsake us because we are engraved on the palms of his hands.
To my friends who struggle with the concept of family on these difficult days, may you experience Jesus’ redefinition of family in Matthew 12:50, and may we each be that for one another.
Grace and peace to all.
